Product Overview

The steel ruler water level gauge is a high-precision measuring instrument dedicated to water level detection. It is widely used for water level measurement in wells, boreholes and water level pipes. It is particularly applicable to manual monitoring of groundwater levels and seepage lines in hydropower projects and earth-rock dam structures.

Suitable for both in-construction detection and long-term engineering safety monitoring, this instrument fully conforms to the specification requirements of the Industry Standard SL60-94 Safety Monitoring Technical Specification for Earth-Rock Dams.

Working Principle & Structural Composition

The complete water level monitoring system consists of two core modules:

1. Underground Embedded Components

Includes a water level pipe and a bottom cover (sold separately).

2. Ground Measuring Host

The main body of the steel ruler water level gauge comprises a detection probe, steel ruler integrated cable, signal receiving system and winding reel.

Probe Assembly

Manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, the probe is internally equipped with waterproof contact sensors. The built-in receiving system activates automatically when the sensor touches the water surface and cuts off when separated from water, realizing highly sensitive water level induction.

Steel Ruler Integrated Cable

Adopting integrated plastic encapsulation technology, the steel ruler and wire are integrally molded to effectively prevent rusting. The integrated structure simplifies operation and ensures more intuitive and accurate scale reading.

Signal Receiving System

Consists of a buzzer, indicator light and peak meter. It outputs continuous buzzer alerts, steady light indication and clear voltage peak display once the probe makes contact with water.

Operation Instructions

During measurement, release the reel freely and turn on the power switch. Hold the steel ruler cable and slowly lower the probe into the water level pipe. A continuous buzzer prompt will be triggered once the probe sensor touches the water surface.

Read the scale value of the steel ruler cable at the pipe orifice, which represents the vertical depth from the groundwater level to the pipe opening. For noisy working scenarios where the buzzer sound is indistinct, users can judge the water level status via the indicator light and voltmeter.

Key Reading Precautions

  1. When the buzzer sounds, the indicator light turns on and the voltmeter pointer deflects, slowly fine-tune the steel ruler cable. Confirm the exact signal triggering position and record the depth data accurately.
  2. Measurement accuracy relies on timely and accurate judgment of the initial signal trigger. Operators are advised to practice repeatedly to ensure proficient operation and reliable detection results.

Maintenance & Safety Precautions

1. To avoid battery loss, always turn off the power switch immediately after measurement. The instrument adopts a universal 9 V battery (multimeter battery). For battery replacement, unscrew the battery cover fixing screws, open the cover and replace the battery.

2. After each use, wipe the probe and steel ruler cable clean, wind the cable neatly on the reel, and store the equipment in a dry and ventilated cabinet.

3. Do not bend the measuring cable sharply, especially the connecting part near the probe, to prevent damage to internal wires.

4. Handle the probe with care and avoid severe vibration and impact. In case of any equipment failure, contact our factory for professional maintenance in a timely manner.
